The Sparhawk

Area Information

Ogunquit and the surrounding area is a destination resort with numerous attractions for all ages. It is a special place to relax and explore whether you choose to experience the quiet spring, autumn’s foliage or the height of summer.

Ogunquit’s three mile beach facing the rising sun over the Atlantic is one of the finest on the East Coast – a beach whose light fine sand, gentle surf and untouched dunes stretch wide and long. To experience the famed rockbound Maine coastline, walk the Marginal Way, a paved footpath that begins in the middle of our property and follows the edge of the sea atop rugged cliffs to Perkins Cove approximately a mile away. You will pass several “little beaches”, enjoy the sound of the surf, abundant flowers, the cry of sea birds, and memorable vistas. Perkins Cove with its fishing and pleasure boats moving easily at their moorings, has fostered both fishermen and artists for over a century.

Explore the area on foot or on one of the local trolleys. Throughout Ogunquit there are many restaurants, shops, museums and galleries in which to spend your leisure time – as well as golf courses, spas, marine excursions and movie theatres. The Ogunquit Playhouse is “America’s foremost summer theater”, and the Ogunquit Museum of American Art is home to an important collection and host to several special exhibits each season.

Ogunquit’s location is also convenient for day trips touring the Maine Coast or the inland mountain-lakes country. You can visit the culturally vibrant cities of Portland, Maine and Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Also in the area are nature preserves, historic sites, and outlet shopping in both Kittery and Freeport, Maine. Brochures, guide books and trip suggestions can be found in the lobby and our staff is happy to provide assistance.
